You’ll be pleased to hear that our Rubber Crumb surfaces are extremely low maintenance.
However, for them to last longer and still look fantastic, there are some simple measures that you can relay to your customers to help them keep the surface performing and looking its best.
Does rubber crumb and rubber mulch need to be laid on a solid sub base?
no
Can you lay base coat rubber and top coat rubber in the same day?
In certain circumstances, it can be possible to lay both in a day but it will depend on area size and curing time.
However, the sub base must be fully cured before installing the top coat
What is the correct ratio of binder that you need for both crumb and mulch?
For EPDM and Mulch, you will need to add 20% binder to the weight of the rubber being mixed e.g. if mixing 100kg of rubber you will need to add 20kg of binder.
For the base SBR rubber, the ratio is 10% binder to rubber.
Which is better resin bonded or resin bound?
You will need a forced action mixer to combine the product, then for installation steel rollers and/or trowels and a lute can be used.
Additionally, a wheelbarrow for moving material around will be essential.
What is the best method to cleaning a rubber crumb/ mulch installation?
Pressure washing is great on rubber surfaces if used correctly. For more info on specific issues please get in touch with us.
What is the difference between mulch and crumb?
Mulch is longer pieces of rubber between 10-30mm in size. EPDM rubber is smaller at only 1-4mm.
Is this a permeable product?
Both Rubber Crumb and Mulch are porous but a porous base is required to ensure the full system is.
Can rock salt be used in frosty weather conditions?
Sadly not, this can cause staining and ‘clogging’ of the surface effecting its porosity.
